Hello Foxcroft Mantra

"Do Something Today That Your Future Self Will Thank You For"

This is the mantra I've always (done my best to) live by. Whether the act is small but mighty or an outwardly grand gesture, doing something in the present moment that your future self will benefit from is a way of life. To show you what I mean by this, I've included a random assortment of examples:

  • Putting everything away before bed. This covers everything from folding the blankets and fluffing the decorative pillows in the living room to doing the dishes and running the dishwasher)
  • Picking out the next day's outfit before bed. I try my best to do this every night, but don't always end up getting to it; every time I do, I am so grateful in the morning.
  • Getting a workout in ("because nobody ever regretted a workout" yada yada yada)
  • Practicing Mise en place (MEEZ ahn plahs) when cooking (a French term for having all your ingredients measured, cut, peeled, sliced, grated, etc. before you start cooking)
  • Organizing your flatware in the dishwasher so that all forks, knives & spoons are in the same caddy (sounds dumb, but try it...)
  • Organizing your groceries in your grocery cart. I'm always amazed when I see people throw items into their grocery carts without any thought. I always organize items by where they will be placed in my grocery bags and eventually my home (dairy products stick together in the cart, because they'll stick together at home, and so on). It definitely saves a few minutes along the way (and the person helping you check out is usually amazed by this. ;)
